Back to the Basics: Categorising your Clothing Part 2 - Clothing to be Folded : Singlets

Folding clothing is an art. There are various ways to do. But I have found my quickest way to fold. These are the steps:

1. Lay out your singlet, with the front of the singlet facing the flat surface.
2. Fold the singlet into half vertically. [ One sleeve area of one end meets the other end of the other sleeve area. ]
3. Fold the singlet into another half vertically.
4. Use your palm as the standard measurement of the width you desired. [ We will teach troubleshoot in the next post ]
5. Fold the clothing from the collar area, down to the end of the singlet into another half horizontally.
6. Fold the mid of the shirt down to the end of the singlet horizontally.
7. Press both ends of the singlet to solidify the shape.
8. You are done.

Below image shows the entire process of how it is folded.

Points to take note when folding:
i.    If you have your own method, you must ensure that it works across all types of clothing that are to be folded.
ii.   When choosing the width of the clothing, ensure it is not anything larger than the distal phalanges of your middle finger.
iii.  The foolproof method for creating any method is: Fold half and half and so on, till it reaches your desired size.
iv.   Hide all the contour edges in. That is why the collar is always folded in the shirt.
v.    In this method, you should fold till you have one-sided with a smooth curve edge. This will allows you to stack and choose your clothing properly when you placed vertically or horizontally in the cupboard. (We will talk more about it in future)

INTRODUCTION TO MINIMUM LIFESTYLE

I have created this minimum lifestyle blog page, which is inspired by the trend of Marie Kondo, HGTV's small houses, Matt D'Avella's Minimalism and much more. So, just a simple background on why I have been into these categories. 1) I am currently living in public housing in Singapore. 2) I wanted things to be simplified as my life gets more complicated. 3) I focus on the comfort of the room and surrounding by re-designing and re-organising. So the purpose of writing this blog is not to showcase how capable am I like those celebrities. I wanted to showcase what I have gone through and combined all the different techniques to improve your environment.
